I learned music starting with violin when I was about 5 years old. I immediately fell in love with this instrument, thanks to a violin teacher who came to play in my nursery school. What’s funny is that my grand-grandfather used to play violin, but my grandfather never liked it… and I finaly inherited his violin. Then I entered my city’s conservatoire and discovered trumpet, which I also fell in love with. I was prompt to fall in love with music instruments at that age I guess! So I studied both to a professional level, and later specialized in trumpet, in Paris Conservatoire.

It’s about that time I got interested in conducting, and my first teacher, Jean-Sébastien Béreau, gave me, beside technique and musical knowledge, a real love for it, for music, and for what makes music extraordinary. It’s what I want to pass on when conducting now, to try to touch a bit of magic in this world, and reach pure moments of grace to share with the musicians and the audience. I’m convinced that the world needs it more and more, especially those days, to remind us of our humanity.
